Feed Quality Testing

Sidebar Image

Animal feed quality is important to maintaining and improving livestock performance and production.  Understanding the quality of both pastures and supplements feeds is valuable when assessing feed management and budgeting. It can also be important information when making sure that dietary requirements and increased production goals can be met.

Eurofins Agri Testing can offer a full range of feed quality analysis by both wet chemistry and NIRS techniques, from Dry Matter only to full feed quality profiles.  We are also able to carry out macro and micro mineral testing in association with the feed quality testing.

In 2016 Eurofins Agri Testing has become part of the Samplinq® Laboratory network that is overseen Eurofins Agro Laboratories in Wageningen, The Netherlands. This has allowed Eurofins Agri Testing to be able to provide our clients with a far advanced NIRS testing service with a wider scope of tests on more feed products, and access to more comprehensive interpretation material. The NIRS profiles available not only provide rapid testing of fresh and ensiled forages, but also concentrates and raw materials (e.g grains, pellets, meals).

Feed Quality Analysis - by NIR Techniques

    • Starch (fresh maize and silages only)

    • ADF, NDF, ADL (Acid Detergent Lignin)

    • Soluble Crude Protein

    • Digestibility and Metabolisable Energy

Advanced Feed Quality profile (AFQAN)

  • Silages (Maize, Cereal, Lucerne, Pasture)
  • Includes:
    • Dry matter
    • Crude Ash, Crude Protein, Crude Fibre, Crude Fat

Along with the NIRS quality results further technical information can be provided based on the following indices: NRC, Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS), and the Dutch Feed value.

Feed Quality Analysis - by Wet Chemistry

Test Package including: Dry Matter (DM), Crude Protein (CP), Acid Detergent Fibre (ADF), Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF), Organic Matter (OM), Digestibility (DOMD), and Metabolisable Energy (ME) (by calculation).

In additional to feed quality, a full range of mineral tests are available as well. Eurofins NZ can also test levels of raw material minerals that are included in concentrates and rations.Along with the NIRS quality results further technical information can be provided based on the foll
