Meat Industry Testing

It can be said that a finished-product is only as good as its individual components. A meat processing plant has many contributing processes that can affect the final quality of that product: including air, water, and boiler water.

Eurofins New Zealand offers a full range of IANZ and MPI-RLP accredited testing service.

Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) requires domestic and export premises to conduct testing of process water their premises. The frequency of testing is regulated by MPI for various industries such as meat, poultry, seafood etc.

It is critical for premises to conduct their water testing on an ongoing basis to meet market access requirements.

Eurofins New Zealand has MPI-RLP Accreditation to conduct water testing to meet MPI requirements, including Overseas Market Excess Requirements (OMAR) specifications for export premises.

Eurofins New Zealand offers the following suite of tests:

  • Human Consumption specification (HCT)
  • Group A – tested a few times a year depending on premises annual water usage
  • Group B – this includes the above and more

Meat Works Processes

On Site Hygiene Checks

Eurofins New Zealand is accredited to perform plant hygiene evaluations on site by collecting plant and equipment swabs as well as air quality samples. Each premises food safety or risk management should include regular hygiene checks to ensure the product is safe.

NMD Sampling and Training

Eurofins New Zealand has NMD Certified Trainers on staff.

Certified Trainers are involved in training premises approved samplers and perform regular on-site audits to meet the NMD requirements.

NMD Data Entry

As per MPI’s NMD requirements, testing laboratories must submit NMD data to the MPI NMD database. This service is provided at no extra cost.

Eurofins New Zealand is MPI-RLP accredited to perform the following microbiological tests:

NMD testing

 
  • Aerobic Plate Count at 30°C
  • Escherichia coli
  • Top 7 STEC
  • Salmonella including for Swedish market
  • Campylobacter

Meat and Meat Product - Chemical Tests

Eurofins New Zealand is accredited to perform proximate analyses on Meat and Meat products including Meat and Bone Meal. The tests include:

 
  • Ash
  • Fat
  • Moisture
  • Protein
