Drinking Water Testing

Eurofins Food and Water Testing is now required to notify the Ministry of Health of any non-compliant drinking water test result.

All laboratories have been contacted by the Ministry of Health requesting notification of any drinking water test result that exceeds the Maximum Allowable Value in the New Zealand Drinking Water Standards.

Eurofins Food and Water Testing is legally obligated by this notice to notify the Ministry of Health of any non-compliant result, on any drinking water sample, irrespective of the reason the sample was collected. This notification must now include all:

  • Registered water supplies that are owned and/or operated by councils
  • Registered water supplies that are owned and/or operated by other organisations, such as marae, hospitals, and campgrounds
  • Non-registered water supplies such as private homes

All six Eurofins water testing laboratories around New Zealand are required to meet this legal obligation and will report all non-conforming drinking water results, effective immediately.

In order for us to fulfill our legal obligation, we will require all customers sending samples to clearly state whether the sample is drinking water or not drinking water.  We will also require an address so that we can notify the relevant District Health Board in the event of a non-compliant result.
