Baby Foods Testing (Infant Formula)

Babies and young children deserve the highest quality baby food available, and lawmakers recognise that special precautions must be taken to ensure their safety due to their low body weight and increased sensitivity. Analytical baby food testing by Eurofins will ensure that these stringent regulations will be met.

Toxic residues that may result from cultivation or production must be reduced considerably more in baby food products than for other food products. Government regulations and dietary regulations define specific nutritional requirements and limits for contaminants that are far below conventional ones.

Organically grown food will often be used for this consumer group, especially to restrict pesticide residues during production. Other contaminants such as heavy metals and mycotoxins, although influenceable through cultivation and storage conditions, are more difficult to regulate and are liable to high fluctuations.

Below is a selection of services we provide.

Testing for Export

Countries from around the world have different legislations with regards to products that are imported into those countries. We can provide GB testing; which is required for products being imported into China. Our global access to more than 250 Eurofins laboratories worldwide will assure that your products will be tested to the requirements of those countries.

Raw Materials Testing

Eurofins Auckland Laboratories offer Raw Material testing as per GMP/Medsafe (Good Manufacturing Practice), USP (US Pharmacopeia) and BP (British Pharmacopoeia), EP (European Pharmacopoeia) standards.

Allergens Testing

  •  Gluten
  • Aflatoxin

Instrumentation used in our chemistry laboratory:

  • Gas Chromatography (GC) – FAMES, Cholesterol, Inositol, Raw Material testing,
  • Ion Chromatography (IC) – GOS, FOS

  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) – Vitamins

  • Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (LC-MSMS) – Carnitine, Choline, Pantothenic, B group vitamins

  • Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) – Metals and Minerals

  • Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) – low level minerals, metals, premixes, and pharmaceuticals

Method validation

Eurofins offer a range of services including the validation of testing methods specific to customer’s matrices. We have a dedicated R&D team working on continuous improvement of existing methods as well as developing new methodologies.

Methods can be developed from first principles or upgraded from literature or customer procedures.  The scientists at Eurofins are skilled in most analytical technologies and capable of creating a validation report that can be transferred into your own laboratory.

On-site method validation and training is also possible upon request.
