Fruit Maturity and Quality Monitoring

The Eurofins Agro Testing network of laboratories across New Zealand offers a fruit maturity and quality monitoring service for local and export market clearance programmes.  This includes options for independent field sampling.

We can test a range of fruit prior to harvest, including but not limited to, avocados, kiwifruit, apples and summerfruit, to make sure your produce meets industry or customer quality and maturity requirements. Our quality monitoring can also assess fruit size and determine other fruit attributes for seasonal comparisons and to help with storage and market decisions.

Maturity and quality monitoring can help provide a more complete picture of your industry sector profile over time, together with emerging trends, enabling growers, exporters and industry agencies to make more informed decisions. As a quality management tool, testing can determine the influence of key factors on fruit quality, including the optimal time for picking and packing and the duration of the cool-storage period (fruit age). These factors can ultimately impact your consumers' eating experience.

Adding value through new technology

Eurofins Agro Testing NZ constantly explores new technology that may add value to New Zealand producers, while leveraging the expertise and knowledge from our global network of laboratories and contacts. NIR (Near Infrared) is one example in the area of monitoring and assessing fruit and vegetable attributes at both precision and speed, while reducing manual labour inputs and creating cost reductions.

We welcome the opportunity to explore possibilities where we can partner with your industry to add value and resilience in these challenging times.
