Eurofins international staff count

Internationally

We started 2018 with an international staff count of 30,000 working in 400 laboratories. Astonishingly, the company ended the year with over 45,000 staff and more than 650 laboratories. Many of these new laboratories were acquired through mergers and acquisitions but a large number were internal start-ups.

In Australia, Eurofins opened the largest commercial laboratory in the southern hemisphere when it moved into its new Melbourne site. With a total available footprint of over 12,000 m2 it is a massive site that will accommodate the future growth of our Food, Environment, Water and Pharma labs.

Locally

The New Zealand water laboratories based in Wellington, Rolleston near Christchurch and Dunedin have been very busy and count the following achievements amongst our milestones.

  • New IANZ accredited tests include: Full drinking water scope in Rolleston, Full food testing scope in Dunedin, Metals in food, Legionella in non-cooling tower water samples, Acid Herbicides in water,
  • We now offer fast turnaround of oxyhalide tests (bromate, chlorate and chlorite) using a new and dedicated ion chromatography unit.
  • We are proud to follow up on our $40,000 donation to KidsCan and Garden to Table by actively donating staff time to assist other charities. During the year, staff were encouraged to support their local charities by working directly with them or by attending fundraisers such as the Stadium Climb. This will continue throughout 2019.
  • Conferences attended include: Red Meat, Horticulture, Stormwater, FoodTech PackTech, NZIFST, Water NZ, NZ Agricultural Show, and many others. It was great to talk to the many people who visited our stands during these events.
  • Our Rolleston based laboratory was awarded The Large Business Award by the Selwyn District Council.
  • Our Wellington lab hosted 30 High Potential Eurofins staff from around the Asia Pacific region for an intensive week of training designed to develop their skills so they can become laboratory leaders.

All three water labs have recorded large sample volume increases over the previous year with our new Dunedin lab showing over 100% growth between years.

Overall, our 120 staff processed over 230,000 samples during the year.

2018 was an exciting year for all our staff and we begin 2019 with a huge sense of accomplishment about what we have collectively achieved.

As we reflect on the successes and challenges that the past year presented, now is also the time to look ahead at 2019 as we plan for the coming year. There are some exciting changes ahead and we look forward to continuing our mission to provide our customers with New Zealand’s most innovative, highest quality, and best value laboratory service.
