Algal Toxin and Marine Biotoxin Rapid Test Kits
The Eurofins Food and Water Testing NZ network of laboratories across New Zealand offers lateral flow Algal Toxin Test Strip Kits, through our global partner, Eurofins Abraxis.
The test kits offer councils, communities, researchers and regional testing organisations access to real-time detection of fresh and marine water algal toxins, and support rapid and informed decision-making to protect public health.
Fast and field-friendly screening
Aimed at complementing existing algal toxin programmes, our test strips are easy to use and provide semi-quantitative test results in less than an hour. They are based on the same proven, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technology used for many years in various industrial applications.
Test strips are available for Anatoxin-a, Cylindrospermopsin, Microcystins/Nodularins, and Saxitoxin and can be used in freshwater streams and raw drinking water sources. The Saxitoxin test kit can also check for paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) in shellfish samples.
As well as providing real-time checks on council drinking water sources, plant operators can use the algal toxin test strips to check source water whenever algal growth is suspected.
Marine Biotoxin Monitoring
Test Strip Kits are also available for monitoring marine biotoxins, which can accumulate in filter-feeding shellfish, muscles and oysters and present a public health risk. Our testing strips support monitoring programs and enable on-site testing and rapid response to a marine biotoxin threat.
