Summer has arrived!

Sidebar Image

2016 has seen a very warm winter and the long term forecast for the rest of the year is for temperatures to remain above average. The major impact for us here at Eurofins-ELS is that extra care needs to be taken ensure that samples arrive within the allowable temperature range.

Many of the samples received at Eurofins-ELS have temperature requirements driven by our accreditation. These types of samples also include environmental waters, effluent, marine water etc. Samples should be couriered in a dark environment and arrive at the lab within 24 hours of sampling and between 0°C and 10°C.

This delivery environment keeps your samples in a state that ensures the results we report are as accurate as possible.

As well as the IANZ sample delivery requirements, some of the samples we receive have requirements set by government agencies like the Ministry of Health for drinking water, and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) for food process water samples. These samples are used for strict compliance criteria so ELS is required to monitor the temperature and is not allowed to test those samples that arrive outside the parameters.

To make sure the samples are delivered within the allowable criteria you may see extra chilly-pads arriving in your sample bins. Please ensure that all the ice packs are frozen before packing ALL of them around the samples. We don’t want to fail a sample based on the delivery conditions, so your help with this requirement will assist us to keep things as compliant as possible.
